Webinar Episode 3. Mar 2023
Welcome to the third live webinar with our Founder Joel Proskewitz.
The questions addressed and their respective time stamps were as follows:
0:00 - Welcome message.
1:30 - The ‘can you fix me’ question.
2:15 - Adjacent Segment Disease ASD. A very well researched subject. Where does the motion removed by a fusion procedure end up being compensated for? ASD doesn’t necessarily only afflict fusion patients. Clinicians are unable to predict whether ASD is inevitable for a particular patient. If we teach people how to move well and specific to their condition, is that a key indicator to reduce the high rates of ASD?
16:50 - Desensitising your back pain despite the responsibilities of work and daily life. Joel discusses the idea of micro-breaks. Somehow these need to be utilised.
22:40 - The role of pelvic floor muscles in spine stability. Joel discusses mechanical back pain and the research on this subject. He also mentions specific pelvic floor muscle issues.
26:10 - Can the Schroth Method exercises offer an alternative for the reduced mobility in the scoliosis with stenosis patient? Joel discusses the differences between function and structural scoliosis. He also mentions adult and juvenile differences. Stenosis is discussed from an exercise intervention perspective.
Closing message - Look after your spine.
