Welcome to The Community

Orientation & Instructions

Welcome. You have arrived at a place where you can comfortably share your story, feelings, concerns and triumphs, with other spine surgery warriors. It is where you can open up as much or as little as you wish.

Rules of Participation

Please read ALL sections before your first group meeting:

    1. The SpineXchange (“TSX”) requires all participants to have their video camera on for the duration of the meeting.

    2. All participants must have their first name visible on their video profile.

    3. NO screen recording is permitted during meetings. If a participant is found to have recorded any, or part, of a meeting, their membership to The Xchange will be immediately revoked.

    4. Participants may NOT offer clinical or rehabilitation advice, or demonstrate exercises, to other participants.

    5. Community moderators are also members of TSX and CANNOT offer clinical or rehabilitation advice.

    6. Moderators are not to be contacted outside of meetings.

    7. Participants are asked to refrain from profanity during the call.

    8. Participants are expected to treat all members with respect and without judgement always. Be courteous, respectful and appropriate.

    9. No solicitation of any services will be allowed during The Xchange meetings.

    10. TSX requires participants, if they have little to no background noise, to have their microphones ON during the call. Having microphones on makes it easier to communicate and participate in The Xchange.

    11. All discussions within The Xchange sessions must remain CONFIDENTIAL. Participants are prohibited from sharing the content of these discussions with anyone outside of their Xchange group.

    12. Failure to comply with any of the above will constitute a breach of the Terms of Use and may result in an immediate temporary or permanent removal of a participant from the group.

  • Sharing your story about your spine surgery journey, including your concerns, triumphs, hopes and emotions are all encouraged. We also invite you to ask many questions regarding your journey, whether about preparing for the upcoming procedure or how to emotionally handle the road ahead after surgery. Every member of The Xchange is on a similar journey and we are here to offer you a comfortable platform for support, encouragement and hope.

    • No rehabilitation advice is allowed from either the participants or the moderators. You need to seek out an appropriate medical professional for any advice regarding your pre or post operative rehabilitation.

    • We do not allow any solicitation of services whatsoever.

    • No discrimination or defamatory remarks will be tolerated.

    • If you are caught doing any of the above, your membership to The Xchange will be immediately revoked.

FAQs

  • Our meetings take place remotely via Zoom. You will receive a link to join the meeting in your initial confirmation email when you sign up to a group, and you’ll also get 2 reminders. The meeting link will stay the same each week for each group, so if you want to save time, you can bookmark the link or store it somewhere convenient so you can access it easily each time.

Check the section above for further details about using Zoom.

  • The link to the meeting for your group stays the same each week. So if you still have the meeting link from a previous week, you can use the same link to join this week.

You will receive an email reminder the day before, and a second reminder shortly before the meeting is due to start. If you can’t see these emails, try looking in your spam folder.

If you still can’t find the emails, this is most likely due to a typing error on your email address when you signed up. Contact info@thespinexchange.com to fix this.

  • We do ask that you stay for the full duration of the meeting. Many of the benefits come from sharing and supporting each other and this is only possible if we are all fully present.

  • In line with our rules of participation, you cannot directly contact your group leader. Our moderators are volunteering their time so we kindly ask you to please follow our rules accordingly.

If you a have a medical/clinical enquiry we ask you to please contact your primary healthcare physician or surgeon directly.

After your group runs its course, you can simply choose to join another group.
